Hola a todos!
Alrighty, well this week I hit my 6 month mark! Which is super weird cause it feels like maybe a month ago tops I went into the MTC...It’s kinda sad it’s going by so fast. But anyway, I burnt a tie as a celebration. I guess that is just a missionary thing haha but it was pretty sick! I’ll send a video here in a little bit. But yeah pretty crazy! So this was a SUPER AWESOME week! Elder Fordham and I had a ton of fun! First off, last Monday night after p-day we started the week off right by finding 4 new investigators! Which was sick cause one of them is a young family with some little kids so that’s super cool. I have a little Plan de Salvacion puzzle thing that they just loved! Then Tuesday we had Trainer Trainee and Doctrine of Christ training. The Trainer Trainee is for first time trainers to learn how to do it (train) haha. Well kinda...we just have to figure it out so that’s interesting. But then the Doctrine of Christ is for missionaries half way through training so we had to go to that too for Elder Fordham! Those are always good! Then on Wednesday we did a lot of tracting! Which btw, Elder Fordham used to hate tracting until then. But now he loves it! I love tracting cause we can just talk to people for days it’s so sick! It’s hard sometimes in the heat, but if you just stay focused on the work and trying to work as hard as you can, you kinda forget about the heat. It is hard sometimes though, like on Wednesday it was 90 degrees...and we were in long sleeve shirts! But it was still an awesome day we taught a bunch of lessons and found a bunch of new investigators to talk to so these next couple weeks are going to be fun! And we have a bunch of tracting planned in so that will be interesting! Anyway this week was good. Something I learned was how important it is to just stay positive and have the right intentions while talking to people. Instead of getting defensive when people try to bash and just trying to prove them wrong, just focusing on the purpose for why we are talking to them and how much it can help them. I realized it’s all in your mindset and intentions. They can change the whole conversation with people. Well have an awesome week! Love you all! #GODSARMY #JESUSISMORMON Elder Harman PS - Here are some photos of the apartment. You can see some photos from the trainer/trainee meeting here.

Hola!
Alrighty I don’t have a ton of time so sorry if it is short again this week. But I got to Yakima on Wednesday, and it was sick right away! I think I’m really going to like it here! There's a larger Mexican population so I'm excited to get out and talk with them. We cover a Spanish branch called Terrace Heights. It’s pretty small but it’s cool. The members are awesome! I’m excited! So we had a baptism on Saturday for la familia Contrera. Oscar and Aurora were baptized. And they have a 9 year old daughter and a 6 year old son. And now the plan is for Oscar to get the priesthood and baptize their daughter so that will be sweet! They are super awesome! My new comp is hilarious, I think we're going to get along great. We are still being fed really well. The members are so nice and feed us often. Lots of awesome Mexican food. Also we still have a car, so that's nice. Also, I have realized this week that I know a little more Spanish than I thought! So that’s cool! Now that I have to do most the talking it has been pretty cool! I can understand better than I thought, but still have a hard time sometimes. I’m starting to think is Spanish so that is also good. I think by the time I leave this area my Spanish will be a lot better! And my companion and I have made some goals to work on it together so that will be good! But yeah so that’s it for this week! I’ll talk more next time! Elder Harman -------- Below are some photos from the baptism that were posted on the mission blog. We also received a thumb drive full of photos, videos and voice recordings in our last letter. Some of the photos have been posted below. It's been so good to hear Elder Harman's voice and see a bit more of where he's been and what his days are like. |
